Bangalore IT forum willing to participate in tech show

Bangalore , Sept. 16

THE Bangalore Forum for Information Technology (BFIT), representing 20 companies, has said it is willing to participate in Bangalore IT.in, if the Government included a session on infrastructure.

In a communication to the Karnataka Chief Secretary, the BFIT said "its participation in Bangalore IT.in 2005 would be in the nature of anchoring or sponsoring a session, if held by the Government, on improving Bangalore's infrastructure.

"BFIT looks at it as a purposeful mechanism where all stakeholders, including the Government, can have their say on solutions to help Bangalore and Karnataka grow."

According to a BFIT spokesperson, this measure clearly showed that IT companies were willing to support Government initiatives.

According to Dr. Bob Hoekstra, CEO, Philips Innovation Campus, "Our boycott is a means to draw the attention of the Government to the infrastructure woes of Bangalore that affect all sections of citizens in the city. We are happy that the Government has now communicated its intent to address these issues and has sent some positive signals by announcing time-bound plans. We will support the IT.in by sponsoring the session on infrastructure. We will actively encourage our members to participate in next year's event if the plans are implemented."
