All-India bank strike on Sept 29

BANK employees across the country will go on a one-day strike on September 29, to protest privatisation of public sector banks, entry of foreign direct investment in core sectors, attacks on trade union rights of workers and for more employment generation, according to a press release issued by the All-India Bank Officers' Association.

The All-India Bank Employees Association will also join the strike, along with the All-India Bank Officers Confederation, the National Confederation of Bank Employees and the Bank Employees Federation of India, the release added.

Employees of public sector, private sector, foreign, co-operative and regional rural banks will also participate in the strike.The other demands related to the banking industry include no disinvestments of Government's share in public sector banks, no merger of public sector banks, no FDI of 74 per cent in private banks and amendment of Securitisation Act to cover attachment of personal and private properties of borrowers, the release said.
