Bank credit up Rs 9,801 cr

MUMBAI: Gross bank credit increased by Rs 9,801 crore for the fortnight ended September 2 to touch Rs 12,10,750 crore, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which decreased by Rs 256 crore to touch Rs 40,071 crore and non-food credit which increased by Rs 10,057 crore to touch Rs 11,70,678 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 12,58,472 crore.
