Education Education fair showcases New Zealand opportunities Our Bureau
Kochi , Sept. 21 MR PAUL Vaughan, Trade Commissioner, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, inaugurated the New Zealand Education Fairs-2005 here at Hotel Abad Plaza. This is the sixth New Zealand education fair in India, which showcases the opportunities offered by that country. Education New Zealand, a government- funded organisation with a mandate to promote education in New Zealand, has been instrumental in organising the fair along with New Zealand Trade & Enterprise. Representatives from several New Zealand universities and government-funded polytechnics and institutes of technology and a number of private technical education providers were present to offer counsel to parents and students aspiring to go and study in New Zealand. According to Mr Vaughan, New Zealand offers students high quality, internationally recognised education qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level, which have a reputation around the world for being practical, modern and widely recognised by education institutions and employers. New Zealand provides a multicultural society that welcomes students from different countries. In the last five years, more than 5,000 Indian students have studied in New Zealand, he said. He pointed out that there has been a tremendous response from Indian students aspiring to go to New Zealand for further studies. The number is continuously growing and there are queries from across the country to know about various opportunities offered by New Zealand. "Earlier this year we signed a education arrangement with the Government of India that would enable Indian students to access New Zealand education more easily," he said. Institutions in New Zealand offer various courses in business studies, engineering, IT & computing, food & dairy technology, plant science and horticulture, hospitality & hotel management, nursing, viticulture, forestry, sports management and many more.
