Sugar Sugar output may top 180 lakh t next season Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 22 SUGAR production during the season 2005-06 is estimated to be around 180 lakh tonnes, up from 130 lakh tonnes for the current season 2004-05, according to Mr Prakash Naiknavare, Managing Director, Maharashtra State Co-operative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd. Sugar production in the season 2003-04 and 2004-05 was down due to drought and infestation, he said, announcing an international exhibition and conference on sugar industry, "Sugar Tech India 2005", to be held during November 10-13 in Mumbai.
The federation, Global Foundation and National Federation of Co-operative Sugar Factories Ltd have organised this event jointly in association with Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA). "Sugar tech India Summit" is organised concurrently with the exhibition on November 10-12. Mr Naiknavare said the sugar summit would focus on challenges and opportunities before the sugar industry in the new millennium, Government initiatives and policy reforms. Mr Dinesh Joshi, President of Global Foundation said the exhibition would project progress competency and excellence of the sugar industry.
