M&As open up market for interim management solutions

Our Bureau

Kolkata , Sept. 23

THE increasing number of mergers and acquisitions and foreign investment in India will open opportunities for offering interim management solutions in the country.

"We are expecting more and more opportunities in this niche high-value segment in the country in the foreseeable future," said Mr Deep Mukherjee, Vice-President of TeamLease Services (P) Ltd. The "temporary staffing solution" company set up in 2002 has a turnover of Rs 147 crore and 23,000 employees.

Interim management is required for managing specific businesses or projects acquired, till such time the acquiring company sets up its own team or merges the project or business with its own business entity.

"There are increasing number of professionals worldwide, who have worked in various important and (or) specialised positions for a substantial part of their career and have now switched over to `lifestyle jobs,' which are extremely high-value and last for a limited period."

He said mergers and acquisitions of a strategic business opened up such opportunities.

Also, there are MNC start-ups, which have inadequate knowledge of the laws of the land and want assistance till they settle down.
