Wipro SafeLite campaign to cover 40,000 students

Hyderabad , Sept. 23

THE SafeLite Campaign of Wipro Consumer Care plans to cover about two lakh students providing eye care advice in the South.

Of them, 40,000 would be in Andhra Pradesh.

Under this, Wipro is running a free eye camp across Andhra Pradesh.

This is part of a larger activity on sharing the benefits of proper eye-care and lighting amongthe student community in the State.

Wipro Consumer Care launched this campaign on September 1, and will run it across 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh touching a total of 40,000 school children before its completion on October 30.

In the first phase, this campaign covered 1,58,000 school children across the South, where it was found that one out of every five children suffered from vision related problems. This early detection helped in taking appropriate corrective action to prevent further deterioration in their eyesight.

Wipro Consumer Care will extend the activity to other cities including Bheemavaram, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, Anantapur, Ongole, Mylarvaram, Warangal, Anantapur, Nizamabad and Karimnagar.

The campaign, which is being run in tier-two cities, is aimed at creating awareness on proper eye care and the dangers that improper lighting can cause to the eyes, according to a company release.

To involve active participation of students, a talent search contest on communicating the theme "A Day Without Light" sought to bring out the creativity in students, with some of them writing on the subject and others expressing their thoughts in the art form.

A free eye check up coupon for a member of the student's family was also issued. The best creative entry will win a Wipro SafeLite Scholarship Award from Wipro Consumer Care.
