EU body to create alumni of project partners

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 25

THE European Union-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme (EU-ECCP), which works for building civil society partnerships between the EU and India, will form an alumni, making a pool of the 60 projects it supported in India in the last few years.

This would help implementers of those projects follow up the activity initiated with the help of EU-ECCP.

Ms Thetis Tsitidou, Programme Manager (Economic Cooperation - Delegation of European Commission to India), told Business Line that a meeting would be held in New Delhi later this year to establish a network of the participants of the projects.

It would also discuss what would happen after the funding programme was completed, she said.

The cultural programme supported a range of projects covering media, communications, education and entrepreneur networking.

The programme has so far granted 25 million euros out of a total budget of 30 million euros.

The remaining amount would be spent on evaluation of these projects. "The next round of funding will come up once this programme is completed," she said.

Ms Tsitidou was here in connection with the seventh and last in the series of `Trainers training workshop'.

The workshop aimed at strengthening the training capacities of Indian business associations to improve their services to small and medium enterprises for export promotion to the EU.

The workshops help forge business links between partners in the area of trade promotion to promote economic cooperation of enterprises in India and the EU.
