Our Bureau

New Delhi , Sept. 29

THE Union Cabinet on Thursday approved accession to the Protocol of Amendment to International Convention on Simplification and Harmonisation of Customs Procedures (Amended Kyoto Convention) adopted by World Customs Organisation in 1999.

The accession to the Amended Kyoto Convention would improve India's standing in its efforts to facilitate international trade, an official release said.

It also said that the accession formalities are to be completed in 2005. The standards and transitional standards of General Annex would be implemented within three and five years respectively, after the Amended Kyoto Convention comes into force.
