Bank credit up Rs 13,107 cr

MUMBAI: Gross bank credit increased by Rs 13,107 crore for the fortnight ended September 16 to touch Rs 12,23,857 crore, according to Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which increased by Rs 177 crore to touch Rs 40,248 crore and non-food credit, which increased by Rs 12,930 crore to touch Rs 11,83,609 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 12,71,565 crore.
