A vendor selling pineapples on the roadside in Kochi. The pineapple season is near its peak and the fruit is flooding the market.

Processed pineapple products make up a meagre 0.2 per cent of the total processed fruit products annual export earnings of Rs 576 crore. Fresh pineapple exports, on the other hand, make up 0.6 per cent of the total fruit export earnings of Rs 361.61 crore.
