Software Info-Tech - Software IGT installs hi-tech application software Our Bureau
Kochi , Oct. 6 INDIA Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd, the container terminal operator of Kochi Port, has installed the latest technology application software, computer hardware and networking for its terminal operations. The Graphical User Interface-based software called Navis Express and Sparcs was commissioned to manage and control the terminal operations by computerised vessel planning, yard planning, rail planning, gate operations, online container tracking and billing. With the commissioning of Navis, the terminal has fully automated container handling and integrated all the operational functions of the container terminal in a real time online environment, which will improve the productivity of the terminal. Upon the implementation of the Navis system, communication with the trading partners in connection with vessel planning and import/export containers will be in the form of electronic data interchange . Radio data terminal and wireless computer updates on real-time basis are also integrated with Navis software. Advantages: The major advantages of the software are the availability of up to date information online, faster turnaround of vessels, prompt response time, higher productivity, reduced paper work, elimination of lost containers, faster and more efficient yard and gate operation. IGT has already implemented other IT systems supporting financial accounting using Oracle Financials and Pay Roll. IGT continues to use cutting edge technology to provide superior customer service with total transparency and efficiency on par with international standards.
