New Delhi , Oct. 12

CITIGROUP has announced a grant of $2,00,000 towards Micro Entrepreneur Awards 2005 in India.

In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, these awards were instituted last year to recognise and honour best individual micro entrepreneur in India.

This year, the award has been expanded to include rural areas as well, from just urban areas last year. The year 2005 assumes special significance since it has been designated the International Year of Microcredit by the United Nations Organisation.

The Citigroup Micro Entrepreneur Award 2005 will be in association with the Global Micro Entrepreneur Award programme launched by the UNO across 38 countries to mark the International Year of Microcredit 2005. The award process is being implemented by Partners in Change, a Delhi based non-governmental organisation.
