Bangalore , Oct. 12

THE MphasiS BFL Group reported a 28 per cent increase in the net profit to Rs 40.16 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, up from Rs 31.51 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenues were up 18 per cent to Rs 227.45 crore (Rs 192.99 crore).

The increase in the group's revenues mainly came from enhancement of business from existing clients as well as from service offerings to new clients. During the quarter, the group added 15 new clients — 12 in software services and three in BPO.

"We have crossed the $100-million mark in revenues in six months this year. We have also crossed the Rs 40-crore mark in profits this quarter. These are two significant milestones," said Mr Jerry Rao, Chairman and CEO, MphasiS, in a press release.

Software services revenues increased by 27.8 per cent to Rs 156.13 crore from the corresponding quarter last year. BPO services revenues grew marginally, by 0.7 per cent. However, gross margins improved by 2.2 per cent and operating profits by three per cent in the same period.

The company hired over 1,200 in BPO this quarter and expects the revenue to flow through in the coming quarters. The quarter saw an increase in headcount by 117 in software services, and 1,222 in BPO.
