New Delhi , Oct. 13 HONDA Siel Cars Ltd is planning to expand production capacity at its Greater Noida plant to 50,000 cars by next month and is targeting sales of 43,000 units this fiscal. The automaker will also roll out its luxury sedan Civic next year. "Our plant in Greater Noida is in the process of expansion and will be ready by early November. The capacity will be further enhanced to one lakh units by 2010," Honda Siel Cars India President and CEO, Mr Masahiro Takedagawa, said at a press event announcing the launch of the new City. The company has so far invested Rs 850 crore in the Indian market. "This expansion is included in that investment," he said. With volumes on the rises due to increasing sales of the City, Honda Siel is looking at revenues of Rs 3,000 crore this fiscal; it had achieved Rs 2,500 crore last fiscal. The company on Thursday launched the new upgraded version of its popular sedan City. Called the City ZX, the car will be available in four variants, with prices ranging from Rs 6.71 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh. The prices have been hiked by Rs 16,000-19,000 primarily to counter increasing freight and input costs. A new variant with a 1.5-litre VTEC engine (priced at Rs 7.99 lakh) has been introduced. It is about 80 mm longer than the earlier one and has a higher bonnet.
