Infrastructure AP Govt to allot land for IT cos for expansion Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 14 THE Andhra Pradesh Government has allocated 100 acres at Hyderabad to Wipro for its expansion and 59 acres to 14 other IT companies at Visakhapatnam. The State Cabinet, which met here on Friday, has also decided to allot land to Satyam and Wipro for construction of their campuses at Visakhapatnam. Briefing newspersons on the decisions taken by the Cabinet, the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mr Mohammad Shabbir Ali, said the 14 companies were likely to invest Rs 200 crore, providing jobs to 13,000 people. Aqua-Culture Seed Panel: The Cabinet also approved an Ordinance for regulation of quality of aquaculture seed. The Ordinance sought to constitute a State Aqua-Culture Seed Committee comprising 11 members to advise the Government in regulating the quality, size and disease-free seeds. It also wanted to set up aquaculture seed laboratories that would act as nodal labs for control and harmonisation of laboratories. Encouraging voluntary compliance to road widening in the twin cities, the Cabinet has decided to reward such gestures from the public. It was decided to increase the FSI (Floor Space Index) norm from the present 10 metres to 15 metres. The Cabinet has ratified a proposal to set up a NIMS (Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences) like super speciality hospital in Visakhapatnam. An amount of Rs 1 core has been sanctioned to research and development fund for the proposed Rs 10-crore Institute of Life Sciences at Hyderabad. Private companies would be involved in developing the research institute. With a view to developing port infrastructure and strengthening administration of ports, the Cabinet has decided to set up the AP Maritime Board in places of Ports Department. It also ratified regulation of land in the Banjara Hills area. Beneficiaries include the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
