TTD acquires part of Karnataka Govt land at Tirumala

THE Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday agreed to the proposal of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to take over 1.7 acres of land in Tirumala currently under the possession of Karnataka Government with its consent.
In all, Karnataka Government possesses 7.6 acres of land in the temple town of Tirumala. According to an official release, TTD has already taken 0.03 acres of land for formation of West Maada Street on an earlier occasion.
The Karnataka Government has accepted the title of TTD over entire land. The Karnataka Government after handing over this site would still be having 5.65 acres of land under its control. The TTD has agreed to handover this piece of land (5.65 acres) to Karnataka on 50 years lease initially with renewal clause.
The Karnataka Government proposes to construct a Choultry complex in an extent of 1-acre with 266 rooms. The balance of 4.65 acres would be still available for Karnataka Government for their use. However, further constructions by the Karnataka Government would be in accordance with the Master Plan of the TTD.
