NHPC contract for Hindustan Const

NATIONAL Hydroelectric Power Corporation has finalised contract agreements with Hindustan Construction Company Ltd for civil works for the 240-mw Uri-II and 231-mw Chamera-III hydel power projects in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh respectively. The contract is pegged at Rs 574.99 crore for Uri-II project and Rs 504.87 crore for Chamera-III.

A company statement said that the Uri-II project cost was an estimated Rs 1,724.29 crore and for Chamera, Rs 1,405.63 crore. NHPC is executing both projects as central sector projects with a debt-equity ratio of 70:30. The equity is provided by the Centre through budgetary support and the balance funds are being arranged by NHPC as term loan.

The Uri project on the Jhelum river is scheduled to be completed in 51 months and will generate 1,123 million units every year. The Chamera would be completed in 60 months and generate 1,108 million units per year, the release said.
