Awareness drive on renewable energy sources

Our Bureau

Kochi , Oct. 20

THE Kerala Renewable Energy Entrepreneurs and Promoters Association (KREEPA) is in the process of conducting awareness campaigns at several local bodies, residential associations, kudumbasree units, clubs etc to highlight the potential of renewable energy among people.

The association, formed for the purpose of making Kerala a model for other States in the use of renewable energy, is also arranging one-day workshops in schools all over the State. It had also initiated steps to impart technical training to plumbers on solar thermal hot water system installation, rainwater harvesting and to electricians for solar house electrification.

The office bearers of the association said that most of the developed countries are now opting for renewable energy and are successful in the area.

India has also kept up the pace with a separate Ministry for Non-conventional Energy Sources and a number of projects in renewable energy application.
