SRL Ranbaxy opens lab in Chennai

Chennai , Oct. 20

SRL Ranbaxy Ltd, which runs a network of pathology laboratories across the country, today opened a lab in Chennai.

The lab, extending over 4,500 sq feet on TTK Road in the heart of the city, will offer a range of testing services, from basic blood sugar to complex microbiology and serology cultures. Tests are offered for HIV and Hepatitis B&C too.

At a press conference here, Mr V. S. Venkatesh, Director, Sales and Marketing, SRL Ranbaxy, said that the company had around 550 sample collection centres across the country and served over 2,000 hospitals. The network of labs offers over 3,000 different tests.

In the current year, SRL Ranbaxy's turnover is expected to touch Rs 100 crore, from Rs 72 crore last year.

The company has same promoters as that of Ranbaxy Ltd.

Also, from this year, the company has started getting samples from abroad (mainly the UK and West Asia) and has so far earned revenues of Rs 1 crore. Mr Venkatesh expects this business to grow to Rs 20 crore over the next three years.
