Mumbai , Oct. 21

THE Gujarat-based Elecon Engineering Co Ltd has supplied a rotary wagon tippler with hydraulic clamping device to the Chennai Port Trust, said a company release here.

Elecon completed the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the tippler with a capacity of 30 tips every hour, five days ahead of schedule. The cost of the tippler is Rs 4.97 crore.

The existing tippler was supplied 30 years ago, and the replacement has been made on priority for meeting urgent export commitment of the port. This performance ranks Elecon as one of the largest manufacturers of wagon tipplers in the world.

Till date, Elecon has supplied more than 150 wagon tipplers to power stations, steel plants, cement factories and ports in the country.

The rotary tippler is designed for unloading from broad-guage open rail wagons by inverting them on their centre of gravity, discharging the contents into the hopper below.

The tippler is designed to handle wagons having a gross load up to 110 tonnes, heights ranging from 2.25 metre to 3.7 metre and a maximum overall width of 3.5 metre.
