Cause for concern

A trader sorting out onions at Mehboob Mansion wholesale agriculture market in Hyderabad. Despite arrivals of fine quality onion from Maharashtra and Karnataka, the prices of the vegetable are soaring. Onion prices are ruling between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,800 a quintal against Rs 600-800 last week. According to traders in Maharashtra, onion inflow in to the markets is down by 70 per cent.
