Co secretaries must go in for talent pooling

Our Bureau

Chennai , Oct. 22

COMPANY secretaries should learn to pool their expertise and knowledge with chartered accountants and lawyers to set up multi-disciplinary firms to survive in a competitive market, said Mr S. Balasubramanian, Chairman, Company Law Board.

Mr Balasubramanian was speaking at the valedictory session of the 33rd national convention of company secretaries. He said that the training by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India is of a high order and that Indian company secretaries could face global competition.

Once Indian qualifications are recognised, they would be able to practice abroad and would, at the same time, face global competition on the home front. It would be in their interest to offer all the services such as corporate governance, certification of services and secretarial audit under one roof.
