ARVIND Mills Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 37.19 crore for the quarter ended September 30, up 84 per cent from Rs 20.14 crore in the previous corresponding quarter. This came even as sales during the period remained almost flat at Rs 428.04 crore as against Rs 419.81 crore a year ago.
The operating profit for the quarter at Rs 106 crore was up by 16 per cent from Rs 92 crore in the second quarter last year. Interest and finance costs during the period stood marginally reduced at Rs 34.24 crore (Rs 35.23 crore). Depreciation was at Rs 38.72 crore (Rs 37.21 crore).
"Our current quarter results are the results of lower cotton and energy cost compared to corresponding quarter previous financial year. In the near future owing to significant addition of denim capacity in the country, prices in the domestic market are likely to remain subdued in the near future", said Mr Jayesh Shah, Chief Financial Officer and Director.
The company has commenced the sewing and washing operation at the four-million-pieces-a-year jeans manufacturing facility in Bangalore.
