Airlines Singapore Airlines to ply 4 flights a week to Hyderabad Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 30 THE launch of direct services on the Singapore-Hyderabad sector by Singapore Airlines from Sunday is likely to boost tourism and exports and imports for Andhra Pradesh. Beginning Sunday, the airline would operate four flights a week, replacing the low-capacity SilkAir services from the city. The airline would fly Boeing 777 aircraft. Hyderabad is the eighth destination for the airline. It operates a total of 47 flights a week in the country. Addressing the pre-launch celebrations, Mr Tan Chik Quee, Senior Vice-President (West Asia and Africa), said Andhra Pradesh "had rich mosaic of cultural, culinary and scenic delights" to sell to tourists all over the world. Referring to the intense competition among the States to get the attention of tourists and investors, he said greater accessibility, particularly air connectivity, would enhance Andhra Pradesh's position. The new services also meant enhanced freight capacity.
