Tariff value hiked for palm group of oils, cut for soya oil

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Oct. 31

THE Central Board of Excise and Customs revised the tariff values for various edible oils on Monday. Palm group of oils has attracted hikes ranging from $2 a tonne for RBD palmolein to a high of $8 a tonne for crude palm oil. Crude soyabean oil's tariff value has been revised downward by $5 a tonne.

As a result, while the landed cost of soyabean oil will be lower by Rs 100 a tonne, that of the palm group of oils will be marginally higher. Crude palm oil importers will shell out Rs 290 a tonne more.

Changes in tariff values have now become a regular feature with a notification issued every fortnight. This has surely helped remove uncertainty among traders.
