Intel dual-core processors

Our Bureau

BANGALORE: Intel has launched its `Paxville MP' dual-core processors earlier than scheduled. The dual-core, hyper-threaded processors are officially named Intel Xeon processor 7000 series. Applications such as database and supply chain management run smoothly on these processors.

Mr Kirk Skaugen, General Manager of Intel's Server Platforms Group, said, "Intel's multi-core-based servers offers database application price performance on a dual processor server."

The hyper-threaded processors were originally planned for release in early 2006.
