PARAMOUNT Airways has signed a $12-million deal with GE Engineering Services for aircraft servicing.

The main line checks will be done in Singapore. GE has also agreed in principle to send technical staff for onsite maintenance work in Coimbatore, Mr M. Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Paramount Airways, said.

The airline began operating eight daily flights today. It will operate daily doubles from Coimbatore to Chennai. The fare on this sector would be Rs 2,222, he said.

On October 19, it began operations on the Coimbatore-Delhi, Coimbatore-Kochi sectors with daily return flights.

The airline will acquire a second aircraft by December-end and start operations on the Chennai-Surat sector. The other planned sectors are Chennai-Nagpur, Chennai-Bhubaneshwar and Chennai-Mumbai. The daily flights will also connect Coimbatore with these centres.

The airline plans to acquire five Embraer aircraft within eight months, Mr Thiagarajan said.
