Spot rubber rules steady

DOMESTIC spot rubber prices ruled almost steady on Saturday. The only gainer of the day was RSS 4, which improved by 50 paise to Rs 58.50 from Rs 58 a kg on short-covering at lower levels.

According to sources, major consuming sectors stayed away from the market and the transactions were comparatively dull. The market was highly volatile during the past few sessions due to speculation, they added. Rubber futures ended weak on NMCE. The November contract closed at Rs 68.50 ( 68.86), December at Rs 65.41 ( 65.56), January at Rs 65.20 ( 65.52) and February at Rs 65.29 (65.48) per kg for RSS 4. The November contract for RSS 4 closed at Rs 67.65 against Rs 68.16 a kg on MCX.

Spot rates Rs a kg were: RSS-4: 68.50 (68); RSS-5: 65 (65); ungraded: 62 (62); ISNR 20: 65 (65); and latex 60% : 45.50 (45.50).
