Mumbai , Nov. 8 MR Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman and Chief Executive of Mittal Steel Company, today announced the launch of Mittal Champions Trust. The Trust has been set up to identify, support and enhance the performance of young Indian sportspersons. "The ultimate goal of the Trust is to improve the performance of India at major global sporting events, starting with the Asian Games in 2006, followed by the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2010 Asian Games and the 2012 Olympic Games in London," Mr Mittal said at a news conference in Mumbai on Tuesday. The Trust will invest Rs 40 crore to provide training for chosen youngsters. The Trust has already signed its first athlete, squash player Joshana Chinappa and is in talks with other players. "I am delighted that we have been able to attract the interest of some of India's top sportsmen to help us achieve our goals. Their experience and knowledge will be invaluable in helping us identify and nurture the right talent," he said.
