Nasscom to submit paper for IT growth

Bangalore , Nov. 9

THE National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) is preparing a strategic paper to address issues facing the country's IT industry, according to its Chairman, Mr S. Ramadorai. The paper will be submitted to the Centre by February.

Mr Ramadorai told reporters that an expert committee had been constituted to look into the concerns of the IT industry for immediate redress. It would focus on issues relating to infrastructure, human resource, educational institutions, regulation and policy framework, he said.

The committee report would not be city-specific but cover the entire country, he said. The committee's objective is to help the industry sustain the potential export growth, estimated at $50 billion by end-2008. The country must gear up to accommodate growth beyond 2008 in the related industries.

Mr Ramadorai said the committee would also identify irritants and bottlenecks hindering growth in the IT sector.
