Bangalore , Nov. 10

THE commercial vehicles business unit of Tata Motors has won the coveted CII-Exim Bank Award for Business Excellence for 2005.

By wining the award, Tata Motors has become a member of the elite group of high performance organisations. The high standards set for this award are evident from the fact that in the last 12 years, there have been only four winners, the last being Infosys Technologies in 2002.

Announcing the award, Mr S.K. Kakkar, Principal Counsellor & Head, CII Institute of Quality, said Tata Motors adopted the Business Excellence framework as the long-term strategy with clear vision to drive improvements throughout the organisation. The leadership has recognised its people, suppliers and dealers as vital links in the transformation process and brought in improvements to management systems and processes to establish a high performing and learning organisation. It led the thrust on new product introductions with clear customer and society focus.
