Fuel efficiency

The International Atomic and Energy Agency (IAEA) warns that "World energy policy is not sustainable" (Business Line, Nov 8).

We have had other more strident warning signals in the form of the natural disasters this year — the tsunami, the earthquake and more recently the floods. Therse are reminders that we need to adopt more eco-friendly polices.

In fact, the rising oil price is a blessing in disguise. It gives encourages finding alternative sources of energy.

So out motto should be `fuel efficiency for reduced fossil energy'.

R&D plays an important role both in achieving fuel efficiency as well as finding new non-pollutant energy sources.
