Philips telemedicine kits

MADURAI: Electronics major, Philips is considering supplying additional telemedicine equipment to rural areas in its efforts to serve more people there. Currently, it is implementing a pilot project in Theni district in association with the Indian Space Research Organisation and Apollo Speciality Hospitals under Distance Healthcare Advancement.

The President and Chief Executive Officer, Royal Philips Electronics, Netherland, Mr Gerard J. Kleisterlee, on a visit to Apollo Speciality Hospitals here, said the requirement of quality medical attention in villages motivated Philips to venture into the telemedicine concept.

According to Apollo Hospital sources, 15 vehicles with well-equipped telemedicine facility is likely to be deployed in the State covering more districts.
