Rubber prices continue mixed trend

DOMESTIC spot rubber continued to be mixed on Wednesday. Trading volumes improved on moderate covering purchases amidst slightly enhanced selling from dealers and growers. Sheet rubber improved by 25 paise to Rs 65.25 a kg at Kottayam, while it closed steady at Rs 65.25 at Kochi.

NMCE rubber weakened following bearish reports from the international futures. The December contract was traded at Rs 64.03 (64.74), January at Rs 64.23 (64.62) and February at Rs 64.60 (65.00) per kg for RSS 4.The March delivery contract for the grade, which opened at Rs 65.50 a kg declined to Rs 64.80 towards midday. The December contract for RSS 4 closed at Rs 64.25 against Rs 64.98 a kg on MCX.

The volumes till noon were quoted at 1,294 lots on NMCE, registering 911 lots in November, 243 lots in December, 88 lots in January and 52 lots in February.

The December futures for RSS 3 declined to 187.5 yen against 189 yen at TOCOM. The grade improved to Rs 72.71 from Rs 72.59 at Bangkok.

The spot rubber prices per kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 65.25 (65) RSS-5: Rs 63 (63) ungraded: Rs 60.50 (60) ISNR 20: Rs 63.25 (63) and latex 60%: Rs 43 (43).
