Mumbai , Nov. 17

LABVANTAGE Solutions, an affiliate of The Chatterjee Group, expects to expand its operations in India, on the back of the growing demand for Laboratory Information Management Solutions (LIMS).

Mr James Aurelio, Chief Executive Officer-Worldwide of LabVantage Solutions Inc, said that LIMS was gaining ground among clients across different sectors as it increased productivity and helped cut costs.

Mr Anil P. Kastuar, President of the company in India, said that the company has 85 people and looks to double the head-count in two years. The company's centre of excellence in Kolkata supports product development world-wide. This is in addition to a similar centre in the US. Financials of the Indian company were, however, not disclosed.

Large Indian corporates across different sectors are warming up to the LIMS, Mr Kastuar said, citing Reliance, GAIL, Haldia Petrochem, Nicholas Piramal, ITC, Central Pollution Control Board and affiliates of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research .
