IF the plans of the Andhra Pradesh Government come through, residents of all cities of the State will get piped water round-the-clock.
The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the officials to prepare a strategic action plan to ensure that water is supplied to every household in every city of the State.
The primary objective should be to give access to water for all households in urban areas. Then, they should try to provide water round-the-clock, he told a review meeting on Municipal Administration and Urban Development early this week.
The Chief Minister wanted the District Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to send their action plans on the above lines. "Identify some of the wards in municipalities and corporations where there is a feasibility to take up 24x7 supply of water," he asked them.
Dr Reddy also called for preparation of a time-bound action plan to provide toilets for all the BPL (below poverty line) households under Integrated Low Cost Sanitation Programme in all the municipalities in one year.
On waste disposal, he directed the officials to clear all the pending projects for conversion of waste into energy immediately and finalise the expression of interests for the 17 clusters to construct the sanitary landfills.
In this regard, he agreed to set up the Andhra Pradesh integrated solid waste management board with a mission to promote `zero - waste' Andhra Pradesh under his chairmanship.
