Software Logistics - Software Vehicle tracking solutions from Citadel Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 20 CAR users in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad will soon be able to know where they can park their vehicles. They can also find shorter routes - if they tread into a wrong lane they will be warned with a red mark on a seven-inch GPS-enabled PCs in their cars. Citadel Research and Solutions Ltd, a Hyderabad-based logistics solutions company has developed Car-Scope, a Windows-based car PC, offering multimedia, GPS navigation and Internet access. The company has already prepared InforMAPtion, the GIS map, for the cities of Bangalore and Hyderabad. The Chennai map is underway. "We will market the product in a month. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 55,000-Rs 60,000," Mr P.S. Krishna, a senior company representative, told a press conference here on the sidelines of the conference and expo `Digital India and MapMela' here on Saturday. The product is being tested on six private vehicles in Hyderabad. "It allows the users to configure their own Windows XP compatible software on the system," he said. He claimed that it was a first-of-its-kind product in the country. Citadel displayed its vehicle tracking solutions at the expo. Mr Krishna said the company was working on a pilot project for the Civil Supplies Department to help it keep track of the public distribution system. "We are doing it in one circle. Later on, it can be replicated to other circles," he said. The pilot project was aimed at giving a GIS and GPS enabled solution to capture 24 petrol pumps, 151 fair price shops and eight LPG outlets. The company also implemented phase I of the tracking system in two police station areas in the city. The phase I was to provide them with GIS maps. The second phase would see roll out of navigation solutions.
