Rubber prices up on low availability

LOW availability of rubber pushed up the spot prices on Tuesday. Covering groups offered better quotes as certain major manufactures were reported to be buying sheet rubber up to Rs 64 a kg amidst better overseas advises.

Latex 60 per cent remained steady on low demand, while the remaining grades improved on all-round buying interest. RSS 4 improved to Rs 64.75 and Rs 64.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 63.75 and Rs 63.50 a kg on Monday.

NMCE rubber futures added further gains inspired by firm international markets. The December contract was traded at Rs 65.24 (64.57), January at Rs 65.48 (64.98), February at Rs 66.28 (65.95) and March contract at Rs 66.80 (66.63) per kg for RSS 4.

The volumes till mid-session totalled at 1,378 lots with 799 lots in November, 423 lots in December, 106 lots in January and 50 lots in February.

The December contract for RSS 4 firmed up to Rs 65.10 a kg from Rs 64.47 on MCX.

RSS 3 moved up sharply to 189.4 Yen from 186.2 Yen a kg at TOCOM. The grade was steady at Rs 72.76 a kg at Bangkok

The spot market prices per kg were: RSS-4 : Rs 64.75 (63.75), RSS-5: Rs 62.00 (61.50), ungraded: Rs 60 (58.25), ISNR 20: Rs 63.00 (62.25), and latex 60 per cent: Rs 43.50 (43.50).
