MS Thermex plans expansion

MS Thermex, the joint venture between the Germany-based Hennegsdorfer Stahl Engineering Gmbh (HSE) and the Hyderabad-based MS Agarwal Foundries, has decided to embark on a major backward integration programme involving a capital investment of around Rs 200 crore.

The company proposed to set up a sponge iron project, pig iron unit, steel slabs and billets manufacturing facility and a power project at Chetla Gowraram in Toopran mandal of Medak district, its Chairman, Mr Maniklal Agarwal, and Director, Mr Gopal Agarwal, said.

They were addressing a press conference here on Thursday to announce the launch of Thermex TMT (thermo mechanically treated) bars. The existing facility for the manufacture of Thermex TMT bars, spread over 30 acres of land, was set up at a cost of Rs 200 crore with a capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes of TMT bars per month, they said.
