Tea Orthodox tea prices dearer at Kochi Our Bureau
Kochi , Nov. 28 RIDING on good general demand, high-priced CTC dust varieties ruled steady at the Kochi tea auction during the weekend, while good medium varieties remained fully firm and the bottom bolder grades gained marginally. There was 10,96,000 kg of dust tea on offer at the auction. Orthodox high grown remained dearer by Rs 3-5, while mediums also gained by Re 1 to Rs 2. The best CTC varieties quoted between Rs 50-67, even as medium CTC commanded between Rs 43-48 and below medium varieties realised between Rs 22-28. High grown BOPD quoted between Rs 65-112, while medium BOPD reigned between Rs 35-39 and secondaries quoted between Rs 25-27. In the leaf tea sale, medium orthodox varieties remained steady, while the prices of high grown varieties remained irregular and gravitated towards last week's closing prices. There was 4,16,000 kg of leaf on offer at the auction. Best Nilgiri broken leaves commanded between Rs 50-68, medium orthodox between Rs 40-50, best CTC leaf between Rs 38-42 and medium CTC leaf at Rs 33-35.
