Bangalore , Nov. 29 SMART Technologies, global market leader in interactive whiteboards, has launched its latest version of Smart Board 600 series, an improved version of its earlier model.
The new modelhowever, uses the same software built for 500 series, has a larger screen and would be offered at the same price as the earlier model. Educational institutions would be offered a discount on the listed price of Rs 1.39 lakh. Used widely in schools and universities, apart from corporates and government departments for training sessions in the UK and the US, Smart Board is touch sensitive and is ported on to a computer and a projector for easy interactions. Announcing the launch at a press conference here, Ms Nancy Knowlton, Smart's President and COO, said India had a rich potential for the product and already major corporates were using it. Mr Aseem Gupta, Executive Chairman of Visionaire, the reselling agency for Smart Board, said the corporate sector has been major customers, accounting for 80 per cent of the 1,000 units sold since its launch four years ago. Indian Air Force has ordered to buy 70 boards.
