Mumbai , Dec. 3

THIS will be the third straight year that the UAE business houses come calling to India.

Major business enterprises from the UAE, including Nakheel, the premier real estate company, National Bank of Dubai, Dubai Islamic Bank and Morison Menon Chartered Accountants will be showcasing their products and services at the UAE Trade Exhibition, to be held from December 7 to 10 in Mumbai. Dubai Waterfront is sponsoring the trade show.

The exhibitors will also include Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, Ajman Free Zone, Fujairah Free Zone and Hamriyah Free Zone.

The UAE is the sixth largest exporter of products and services to India and the second largest destination for Indian exports. Bilateral trade between the two countries touched $11.92 billion in 2004-05. During last fiscal, the UAE's exports to India was up 127 per cent at $4.67 billion, while Indian exports to the UAE rose 42.5 per cent at $7.24 billion.

Mr Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, President, International Expo-Consults LLC (Dubai), technical organiser of the event, said in a release, "This exhibition is the perfect opportunity for business houses to capitalise on the opportunities offered by India, whose eight per cent GDP growth makes it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Moreover, the large number of Indian companies in the UAE is proof of the growing ties between the two countries and the substantial potential for investment."

The exhibition hopes to attract an even larger number of participants and exhibitors eager to do business. The event had pulled in over 11,000 business visitors in its 2004 avatar.
