Kerala's plan outlay for 2006-07 at Rs 6,210 cr

THE Kerala Cabinet has approved an annual plan outlay of Rs 6,210 crore for 2006-07. This works out to an increase of nearly 16 per cent or Rs 840 crore over the current annual plan outlay of Rs 5,370 crore.

The annual plan, which was cleared by a special meeting of the Cabinet on Saturday, includes externally aided projects of Rs 1,796 crore and State sector schemes of Rs 4,033 crore, said an official spokesman.

The plan assistance to local self-governments for next year's annual plan is Rs 1,400 crore as against Rs 1,375 crore in the current year. The social services sector is getting Rs 1,751.32 crore.

The allocations for the other sectors are: transport and communications, Rs 911.41 crore; energy, Rs 835.42 crore; rural development, Rs 345.53 crore and agriculture, Rs 341.07 crore.

The industry and minerals sector has been allocated Rs 132.60 crore, while the tourism sector is getting Rs 73.57 crore. The allocation for irrigation is Rs 192.38 crore.

General economic services are getting Rs 115.26 crore; science and technology Rs 53 crore, general services Rs 30.31 crore, and special area projects Rs 28.13 crore.
