TN Foodgrains yard tie-up with varsity

MADURAI: Tamilnadu Foodgrains Marketing Yard Ltd (TFMYL), the special purpose vehicle for establishing the Madurai cereals, pulses and staples milling cluster, will sign a memorandum of understanding with Madurai Kamaraj University for the upgradation of the proposed cluster.

In a meeting held here recentlyh between the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr P. Maruthamuthu and the Chairman and Managing Director of the Yard, Mr S. Rethinavelu, it was decided to join hands to formulate programmes for the upgradation of the cluster with reference to the specific needs of the industries.

As a follow-up, a committee has been formed to formulate programmes covering subjects such as utilisation of non-conventional energy sources for drying, improving seeds of grains, for pest and disease resistance and quality improvement, collection of information on ethnic and traditional foods.
