Trade & Labour Unions SBT employees on warpath Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Close on the heels of the employee unions of the Kerala Circle of State Bank of India (SBI) upping the ante, those of the associate State Bank of Travancore (SBT) have threatened to launch protests against the core banking principle. Proposed merger with the parent is one other major issue that is engaging the minds of the SBT Staff Union, said Mr P.V. Jose, General Secretary. This was detrimental to the interests of the State at large. Hasty implementation of core banking had led to many avoidable problems that have managed only to pit the employees against customers. Even the Banking Ombudsman has had to intervene in view of steadily increasing instances of customer complaints. Lifting of the freeze on compassionate appointments was another major demand of the union, which proposes to hold a demonstration in front of the SBT zonal office here on Thursday.
