Our Bureau

Bhubaneswar , Dec. 9

A MONTHLY Oriya technical journal on fisheries titled `Matsya O Ama Bikasha' (Fisheries and Our Development) was released by the Orissa Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Mr Golak Bihari Nayak, here.

Edited by a team led by Mr Bishnupada Sethi, Chief Editor of the journal, it is expected that the journal would be useful for effective diffusion of modern technical knowhow, and address issues like marketing, value addition, processing etc. for the benefit of the farmers and entrepreneurs of the State.

The journal, which is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is first of its kind in contents and taste in Oriya language on fisheries and is addressed by many eminent scientists and writers. It visualises documenting and diffusing good practices, ideas and technologies for ushering sustainable and endogenous development of people through fisheries.
