Petroleum Aiyar asks OMCs to meet Bihar's LPG demand Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 24 THE Union Petroleum Minister, Mr Mani Shankar Aiyar, has asked the oil marketing companies (OMCs) to fully meet the genuine demand of LPG in the household sector in Bihar. Responding to the demand of Bihar Chief Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, at a meeting here on Friday for increasing supplies to meet the reported LPG shortages in the State, Mr Aiyar stressed that the genuine demand of LPG should be met in full and if need be, the OMCs should increase supply of LPG to the State. He also requested the Chief Minister of Bihar to take stringent measures for checking diversion of LPG meant for domestic use to unauthorised and illegal use. The Petroleum Minister pointed out that such diversion is not only illegal but also dangerous as the unscrupulous elements also use these cylinders in taxies/cars and auto rickshaws, which pose a serious danger to the lives of vehicle occupants as also the persons outside.
