New Delhi , Jan. 5

CONTAINER Corporation of India (Concor) will now have to pay Rs 50 crore to the Indian Railways as registration fee for continuing its operations.

The Union Railways Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, on Thursday said that there were no plans to disinvest in Concor.

On whether Concor would have to pay registration fees, Mr Prasad said, "A level playing field would be maintained between all operators and Concor would have to apply for registration and pay Rs 50 crore for running containers on all routes."

Meanwhile, when contacted, the Pipavav Rail Corporation Ltd (PRCL) Managing Director, Mr R.C. Dubey, told Business Line that they plan to apply for registration for running containers. PRCL is an SPV operating the rail section between Surendranagar and Pipavav port.

In a related development, Concor on Thursday signed agreements with Central Warehouse Corporation (CWC) and PRCL.

The three companies aim to pool their resources together for being the leading logistics player in the country with special emphasis on various links of entire multi-modal transport chain for door-to-door movement of cargo by all modes, including Railways, said a statement.
