Board of Trade to meet in Mumbai on Jan 13

THE Union Commerce & Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, has proposed to convene the Board of Trade meeting in Mumbai on January 13.
An official release said that a crucial item on the agenda of the meeting would be the presentation by select working groups and study groups set up sometime back and specified areas of India's exports.
The subjects scanned by them include evaluation of different export promotion schemes, trade facilitation, manufacturing sector, identifying specific sectors and strategies having comparative advantage and on SEZs and export-oriented units.
Besides, there were also four sectoral study groups on textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and allied sectors and on the impact of regional trade agreements and free trade areas on Indian industry and exports, an official release said.
The Board of Trade is a forum for continuous dialogue between the Government and trade and industry and the Board, among others, advises the Government on policy measures connected with the country's foreign trade.
